Fixing ventilation
- Ensure eave vents are clear of insulation (reposition batts to maintain a 50mm clearance at the eave)
- Add a continuous ridge vent or multiple roof space ventilators (whirlybirds or powered ventilators) to create through-flow
- In serious cases, a building ventilation specialist can model and specify a complete ventilation upgrade
Treating existing mould
Professional roof void mould treatment involves:
- HEPA vacuuming of all accessible surfaces to remove loose spores
- Application of a biocidal timber treatment to all affected rafters, purlins, and battens

Is it worth replacing all the insulation if it looks discoloured?
